Full Interview: Serving the underserved
Heidi Carr is what you would call the picture of a successful corporate career woman. She has worked in a number of roles, primarily in sales and marketing in the home building and automotive industries. A layoff, followed by a health crisis and a death in the family, helped clarify something fundamental for Heidi, and that was – she didn’t want to remain on the corporate stress treadmill. Instead, she wanted to make a difference in the lives of others… beyond simply volunteering outside of work hours.
Once she got clear about what she wanted from life, Heidi was able to attract a job that then opened the door to the nonprofit world. Today, she serves as Executive Director of Fostering Success Act, which is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide resources and support to young people who are aging out of the foster care system in the state of Georgia. They do this by helping Georgians take advantage of a unique, dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their state income taxes.
In this full interview, Heidi shares her wisdom on showing up for others in your life by showing up for yourself first.
